Background

I spent four years in the U.S. Coast Guard working on teams that provided around-the-clock command, control, and response to maritime incidents. I participated in all aspects of operational planning and mission execution, gaining significant experience in communications, navigation and travel coordination. Serving in the armed forces helped me develop a strong work ethic and critical leadership skills, both of which I put to the test when I started my first company.

In 2012, I had an idea for a simple product that would resonate with the hip-hop community. It that went viral. Slomocup is an injection-molded, surgical-grade Bayer plastic double cup that can be customized to the user's liking. As a cheeky nod to hip-hop culture, Slomocup immediately resonated with the biggest artists in the hip-hop such as Future, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne. The artist Riff Raff even came aboard as a distribution partner via his personal website.

As the creator of Slomocup, I learned injection molding to create the prototype, secured patents, trademarks and packaging, and singlehandedly built the brand's identity through social media growth hacking and PR to secure national coverage. I used the money I saved as a Coast Guard to bootstrap this business. When the company became profitable, I hired a small team to help the brand go global. It was a thrilling ride. With all the attention came sales (yay), and also an email inbox constantly full of inquiries.

I got the most number of requests from other founders and Heads of Marketing asking about how I was able to scale my company’s brand so quickly. After helping a few friends double their revenue, I further honed my nose in identifying which trends and strategies most effectively drove lasting business growth.

In 2016, I founded Burger Media to help other entrepreneurs tell their most captivating stories and reach their most engaged audiences.
